Hockey songs are motivational songs composed specifically for the sport of ice hockey. Many songs have been created about this fantastic sport. Hockey songs are a great way to get into the game’s spirit.
Many bands perform hockey-themed music. They play motivational hockey tunes for the squad to keep them motivated. Themes of hockey songs differ greatly from one band to the next. Let’s take a look at the most popular hockey songs that you can find out there.
Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way because the Hockey Song is arguably the most ‘hockey’ of them all, there are surely other songs that rank right up there with it. We understand that every hockey player and spectator has a different perspective on which songs are actually hockey songs, but there are certainly a few legendary tracks that can spark any hockey arena, regardless of the conditions on the ice.
In the spirit of missing large crowds and crowded venues, here are five of our all-time favorite hockey songs that can rouse even the most hushed of audiences.
We Will Rock You by Queen
Okay, we’re not sure if this is too particular, but did anybody else’s minor hockey team pound their sticks on the boards and smash their blades on the ice to the tune of this song before games to terrify the other team? Anyone? Is it just us? Whatever the case may be, this will go down in history as a hockey classic.
Levels by Avicii
Although we recognize that this isn’t an ancient classic, there’s no disputing that since its release, this song has been synonymous with getting hyped up before a hockey game. How could it not make you feel a little energized?
Thunderstruck by ACDC
This one is self-explanatory. If you ever need to jolt us out of a coma, just play this song and we’ll wake up around the second or third ‘THUNDA.’
Welcome To the Jungle by Guns N’ Roses
If we were to use a slideshow to introduce someone to hockey who was unfamiliar with the game, the last slide would simply read “Welcome to the Jungle,” with a selection of insane hockey video to go along with it. This song simply seems to suit. On the ice, it’s like being in a jungle.
Sandstorm by Darude
If you didn’t hear this song at a hockey game, did you ever attend to a hockey game? This one has made its way onto the playlists of every in-game DJ, and we’re cool with that.
